The disaster which was his room was tormenting my organizational side. The room was hit by a combo of traveling/holiday/guests/growth spurt/season change. So basically, it was messy, disorganized and in desperate need of an update.
There I was, working, a lot, more than I should have been. I was trying to keep up with the dishes, with the laundry, with the homework and lesson plans.
And the room was waiting. Lurking, even.
I did my best to not let it bother me, but it got to the point where I was rummaging through piles of clothing to find a somewhat reasonable outfit, and that was becoming more and more difficult, on many levels. Finding matching socks… well. Toys stored helter skelter, laundry piling up on the already crowded dresser.
You get the picture.
Tonight I said “ENOUGH!”
I went into that room, and I owned it (okay, technically I don’t own it ’cause we’re renting).
The now-obsolete 6-12 month clothes which were occupying the dresser drawers are now stored away in a nice plastic storage container thingy. Cloth diapers folded and organized. Warm weather clothes accessible. Socks matched. Bibs findable. Toys contained.
I feel so much better.
Now, if I could tackle the rest of my life…
All of you with bigger families than mine – how do you stay on top of it all?
