We’ve all been there, right? Starting a new job, marking a major life event (marriage, children, making aliyah), or even pursuing a hobby more seriously. We have ideas of how it might go. And then reality steps in and things are, well, different than we thought they might be.
While sometimes these unmet expectations can be mildly annoying, other times they can be downright devastating. But, on the bright side, many of my more growth-oriented articles are the direct result of dealing with some major life disappoint due to a large divide between my expectations and the reality.
- Dealing with Disappointment,
- When Falling Down Means Going Up,
- When Having That Huge Orthodox Family Is Too Overwhelming,
- It’s Okay To Be Overwhelmed By Happy Events,
- Gam Zeh Ya’avor,
- G-d Doesn’t Owe You Anything.
That’s just a sampling. So yeah, it’s been fertile ground for lots of self-improvement and introspection and growth.
This week on Hevria I talk a little more candidly about Expectations Versus Reality. I hope you’ll head over there and take a read and let me know what you think. Hopefully it will meet your expectations. Mwahaha.
