It is that time of year again, time for the crunch of needing to prepare spiritually while having so much to do physically. It’s a common dilemma, especially for those of us who are in charge of cooking, baking, shopping and all the details of running a household. I’ve written about it for Jew In The City and it is the reason I started doing a daily series of quick little videos, aptly titled “Quick Thoughts For Elul.” It was five years ago that I first recorded these little videos, and though some years I lasted longer than others, it always helped get me into the Elul mood.
And what is that mood? Reconciliation. Redemption. Love. Connection. Second chances.
So if in the past you feel like you haven’t been able to devote as much time as you like to your spiritual world during this time of year, this is exactly the time of year to try again! To say, “well, it didn’t work out so well last year, but this is a new year and a new me and so let’s have another go at it!”
And in that spirit, I am trying my hand at posting a new QTFE video every day. Every. Day. We’ll see how that goes. My first video is already up on my blog’s Facebook page and also my Instagram stories. I can also send it out via WhatsApp if that’s your jam. Let me know, and let’s go on this adventure together and make this the best Elul yet.

WhatsApp would be better for me as I don’t do FB or Instagram.
