State of the Blog

The last few posts I’ve written here have been kind of intense, and then last week this post went up on Kveller, so I’m taking a breather this week from all things personal! I thought I’d do some state of the blog announcements instead.

What’s the plan for the blog?

As some of you know, I’m not in love with the name of this blog. I barely ever write about marriage, and I don’t feel like the name of the blog gives any indication whatsoever what the blog is about. Back in the day, when I started this blog as a way to keep in touch with friends and family, I wasn’t thinking about branding or focus or blah blah social media strategy, etc. I just needed a name, so I picked out.

The more I write, though, the further I move from the name of the blog, and I feel that it’s time to change the blog’s name to reflect the evolution it’s experienced. That’s right, I’m officially moving to a new domain (after the new site is ready and everything, that is).

So I am officially moving to a new domain. I’m not sure how this is going to affect all of you who have subscribed to the blog, so my apologies in advance for any hassle in the process.

Some new things to look forward to

I’m hoping to put out a semi-regular compilation of online articles and posts and miscellany that I’ve enjoyed.

Starting to do some interviews that I’m hoping to have available in both written and audio. If you know anyone who you’d like to interview, or if you’d like to be interviewed yourself (no shame in self-promotion, so why not?), just let me know.

Bye-Bye Facebook Page

If you follow my blog’s Facebook, you may have heard me gripe about how Facebook seems to make it very hard to reach my followers.  Whenever I post a link to an actual blog post, it gets far, far less views than anything else I post.

So I’ve gotten tired of trying to game the system, and I don’t really want to dedicate time anymore to both a blog page and my personal Facebook page.  So I’m shutting down the blog page, and invite you all to follow my personal page, or friend me, or whatever.  When you friend me, just let me know that you read the blog and then I won’t be all suspicious like “who are you?  why are you friending me?”

Okay, that’s pretty much it

Thank you to everyone who reads, comments, and shares, and interacts. I’m feeling all emotional about all the friends I’ve made and people I’ve “met” through this forum. Connecting with all of you is really what makes blogging so worthwhile, and it helps keep me posting even though my life gets progressively more and more hectic!

Now I’m off to feed the baby, go to a well-baby checkup, pick up mini cupcakes and juice boxes for my son’s bday party in school today, pick up balloons for his party at home tonight, and then to pick up my middle kids from school. And that’s all before one o’clock! Ack! Baruch Hashem.

snuggles!

  1. Have you tried any of the plugins that automatically post to your Facebook page? That might save you some aggravation. Good luck with the updated site! Please post a link here so I’ll know to subscribe!

    1. I will definitely post a link! And also, this site will automatically redirect to the new address, so that should hopefully be helpful. The plugins are great, totally, but for my Facebook page to stay visible, I have to regularly update it with text, pictures, etc., and it’s just a little more effort than I’m willing to expend. :)

tell me about it!
